Located just steps from the Huntington Beach Pier and Pacific City at the heart of a vibrant and burgeoning community, the Pasea Hotel and Spa represents a modern oasis with what we here at the Malakai Sparks Group call an unrivaled sense of clean, coastal style and comfort – all of which guests can experience while getting that unmistakable feeling of sand between their toes.
Beyond this coastal comfort and modern style is a laid-back luxury-esque approach with a deep connection to the Huntington Beach surfing culture; the hotel boasts some 250 spacious guest rooms and suites, almost all with views of the awesome Pacific Ocean. According to Pasea corporate representatives, the property was designed to connect guests with nature while bringing the artistry and warmth of Huntington Beach to vivid life, and all it takes is one visit to concur with this sentiment…indeed, here’s an environment that transitions seamlessly from one space to the next, in the heart of a city renowned for its unique culture.
Beyond the Hotel
Aarna is Pasea’s Balinese-inspired spa that features indoor and outdoor treatment areas and sets a new standard for relaxation and rejuvenation. Meanwhile, Tanner’s, Pasea’s signature restaurant boasts exhibition cooking and communal dining in the form of fresh, contemporary coastal cuisine inspired by the diversity of southern California blended with the flavors of renowned surf cultures from around the world. Focusing on locally-grown and seasonal ingredients paired with international flavors, Tanner’s utilizes innovative culinary techniques to create a uniquely eclectic menu.
The Pasea sits on one of the most coveted pieces of Huntington Beach real estate as it offers some of the most breathtaking views of the Pacific from its indoor and outdoor seating areas that rival anything else in Southern California. Tanner’s also features an extended indoor bar in addition to a sexy, chic treehouse-esque rooftop bar that overlooks the ocean. Here, both guests and locals socialize amidst a playful beachside atmosphere that connects them to the local surf scene while enjoying an unforgettable dining and cocktail experience.
Some of Tanner’s signature dishes include Tuna Poke Nachos, Balinese Satay-Spiced BBQ Chicken Skewers and Australian Wagya Filet Mignon.
Some History
The sassy and eye-catching Pasea Hotel and Spa was co-developed by Newport Beach, California-based R.D. Olson Development and Irvine, California-based Pacific Hospitality Group, both of which incorporated a variety of unique design elements and amenities that add elegance to the iconic southern California surf town of HB. Over the course of the Pasea project, R.D. Olson Construction used its extensive experience in the hospitality sector to seamlessly integrate design and construction elements, ultimately creating a cohesive beach-inspired feel throughout the property.
The hotel’s completion was celebrated at a grand opening ceremony on June 10, 2016, where representatives of the construction firm entities involved were joined by civic leaders including Huntington Beach Mayor Jim Katapodis, Huntington Beach council members Barbara Delgleize
and Jill Hardy and Huntington Beach City Manager Fred Wilson.
The 218,000 square-foot hotel, which was integrated with the then-new 191,100 square-foot Pacific City retail and entertainment center, was specifically envisioned by world-renowned Irvine-based architect WATG, while the property’s restaurant design was executed by Costa Mesa-based Hatch Design Group, with common area and spa design by Santa Monica-based Kay Lang + Associates.
Conclusion
The Pasea Hotel and Spa adds an elegant, worldly element to the landscape of Huntington Beach’s downtown, what with its artistic stone and wood elements imported from as far as Bali – but the property is equally dedicated to celebrating the roots of “Surf City” by way of wave-inspired features throughout and local artwork including an awe-inspiring installation of 1,400 flip-flops created by Laguna Beach-based artist Jorg Dublin.
We here at the Malakai Sparks Group can give the Pasea two heartfelt thumbs up.
